to the Department of Psychology at the University of Indianapolis
Athens. The department offers an undergraduate (B.A.; B.S.)
psychology major and two Master of Arts (M.A.) degrees in
Clinical Psychology and Mental Health Counseling.
Psychology is the study of mind and behavior and embraces
a wide range of disciplines; from biology to cognitive psychology
to the study of social interaction and relationships. Here
at the University of Indianapolis Athens we provide a broad
education in all the main disciplines within psychology.
The Department of Psychology is located in the Ipitou 9
building and consists of 6 full-time and adjunct faculty
members who are skilled educator-scholars with a strong
commitment to teaching. Many of the psychology faculty serve
in various roles as practicing professionals in the community.
Computer facilities in the University provide students
with access to word processing programs, spreadsheets, data
bases, and connection to the Internet. The Library contains
some of the major journals and publications in the field
of psychology. Additional periodical holdings and textbooks
are available from a variety of academic libraries throughout
the city of Athens. The Library also offers computerized
literature searches (PsychInfo & PsychArticles).
By offering both a B.A. and a B.Sc., the course is available
to students from a variety of backgrounds. The department
strives to maintain a high standard of teaching in a friendly
and relaxed environment, providing good relationships between
staff and students and among the students themselves.
